OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Reverse osmosis and membrane filtration share similarities in their treatment processes, yet they differ significantly. Membrane filtration primarily relies on straining or size exclusion, potentially achieving flawless particle exclusion irrespective of operational factors like influent pressure and concentration. On the other hand, reverse osmosis utilizes pressure to propel a solution through a membrane, keeping the solute on one side while enabling the pure solvent to pass through to the other side. This process reverses the natural osmosis mechanism, where a solvent moves from an area of low solute concentration to an area of high solute concentration without external pressure.
POSSIBLE CONFIGURATION:
- Pretreatment: The pretreatment phase is essential for removing particles that could potentially harm the membranes, such as free chlorine.
- Reverse osmosis: In reverse osmosis, it can eliminate up to 97% of dissolved non-organic materials and over 99% of total dissolved organic materials, colloids, and particles. This process is available in single or double passes and offers excellent removal of microbial species.
- Continuous Electro Deionization: Continuous Electro Deionization: modules use ion exchange resins primarily as a bridge to allow electricity to pass through the electrodeionization cell. This allows the module to operate without any brine injection or concentrate recirculation. The ion exchange resins are continually regenerated by the dissociated hydrogen and hydroxyl ions that have been created by the electric current.
- Degasification System: Liqui-Cel® Membrane Contactors are used for the elimination of the dissolved gases in the liquids.
